Well Mark, I’m gonna have to argue with you on this one, on this premise: you’re going to take all these wishes and you’re going to revise them, preparing to hand them down to a grandchild or maybe to collecting them in a book. And this one needs to be better. “Consumerism” isn’t really something you can look out for. It’s a broad word for a general trend. But what you can look out for is the way people who want you to buy things try to persuade you, and then make up your own mind. Maybe this one is “Make Up Your Own Mind,” or “Beware the Sales Pitch.” Something more concrete and do-able. For the revised edition, of course. 😁
I like that improvement! Despite the pressures of the context, we can and should still exercise good decision-making and personal responsibility? Be thinking about your editor’s fee for when I write the book. 😊
It’s an interesting issue. Cynically, I’d say “trust no one but yourself,” or “you are the best guardian of your interests.” Or, I could fall back on one of my only truisms, “it’s not about you” (which implies that the actions of others are rarely about improving your life but rather about improving their own.)

Totally digging the Libby List, Mark!
Thank you, Lisa!
